Card Construction

For the first project of the semester we were given an assignment to create any type of construction from one deck of playing cards. We were then supposed to create a design program that was based on our card construction.

After I created my model, I was able to see a resemblance between it and a structure that may be found in a botanical garden or similar location. From there I created a gazebo type design which people are able to walk through and around. A person may go here for “reflection,” which is enhanced by the water that surrounds the construction and through the material of the construction, which would be a semi-reflective aluminum. Sun would also be able to shine through the patterning on the sides of the building, allowing an appealing pattern to reflect on the water.
